The Books & Such Client Retreat

May 2, 2019 //  by Rachel Kent//  7 Comments

Blogger: Rachel Kent

We are heading to Charleston, SC for the Books & Such client retreat tomorrow! We are so excited for this time and it’s a great place to connect on many levels. Here are some of the reasons we have this wonderful retreat:

  1. Connecting with our clients! We get to meet face-to-face with many of our clients in a beautiful setting. Connecting face-to-face allows for deep brainstorming, conversation, etc. to work with our clients and to help plan their writing careers.
  2. Connecting clients with each other! It’s awesome for creatives to get together. We always see amazing ideas sprouting and some great projects have hatched from time our clients have spent together. Also, these are your supporters and friends both new and old. It’s always a blessing to add more cheerleaders to your life.
  3. Connecting our clients with industry professionals. We have editors, marketers and publicity specialists attending our retreats. Our retreats allow for our clients to engage with these knowledgeable people and to connect about project ideas and promotion.
  4. Wonderful instruction! Our clients will be taught by agents and industry professionals in an intimate setting where questions are welcomed.
  5. FUN! Our retreats always leave time for fun! We have free time in the afternoons to explore Charleston together. We are going to visit a working tea plantation and some of us are going on a tour of historic homes in the area. It should be amazing!

Have you been to Charleston? What are some of your favorite travel locations?

    First off, we’re all praying for RachelHeld Evans, and for her family. May God hold them close, and may He bring comfort and healing.

    For me, the journey was often the destination.

    When I used to travel
    I always flew Southwest.
    Their schedules didn’t unravel,
    and the people are the best.
    The cabin crews were a hoot
    with their colourful safety briefs,
    They’ grab attention, quickly put
    travelers’ butts into the seats.
    The leather-coated pilots
    always gave a friendly word;
    updates could be a riot:
    “We were just passed by a bird!”
    Southwest, my hat’s off to you;
    fun professionals, through and through!

      Sorry, her husband’s name is Dan, not ‘Da’. I apologise for the gaffe.

      Also, Rachel’s friends have set up a GoFundMe on her behalf; the burden of a serious illness can be absolutely devastating, and this is a young family with two small kids.

      Every little bit helps, and even more, surrounds the family with love.

        Andrew, thank you for this information. I’m totally gob-smacked. I knew nothing about these health issues.

        Pray with me?

        Father God, we lift Rachel and her family to your throne. We praise you that you are sovereign in all things. We ask for your healing touch for Rachel, your provision for her and her family, and your comforting presence surrounding them. May they be effective witnesses for you as they travel this road, with you beside them and before them every step of the way. In Jesus’ most precious name. Amen.

    This sounds WONDERFUL on so many levels. I am praying for your time together. May it bless each of you in ways you wouldn’t expect.

    I’ve never been to Charleston, so I can’t offer any suggestions. But, I know the Carolina’s are beautiful! Enjoy.

    I was in Charleston years ago. It’s a great town. It has a lot if history. I enjoyed doing a walking ghost tour and doing a a carriage tour of the one of three sections of the city. What stood out most was the food. I went to a restaurant called Poogans Porch which still exists. The food was amazing. It is located in a Victorian townhouse. When I was there, we actually ate on the porch.

    Good article. What do you think about books on cars and their history http://www.bookroomreviews.com/top-10-books-on-car-history/#.XNA2xOgzaUk and similar? Is it an art book or maybe something else? Do you know any author that write this kind of books? It would be great if someone answers this.
