It’s an early miracle, this year,
but better than too late.
Roscoe is now free from fear,
and he’s sleeping in a crate.
He was a hungry little stray
who had courage, yes, to trust,
and ’twas that which won his day,
but really, only just.
I offered water and some food
at the garden wall,
but it was his decision – was I good?
and then he made the call.
He’d had enough of wide-world harms,
and leapt, unbidden, to my arms.
