“The toys are all gone,” cried the elves. They all ran around looking for Christmas toys. “We can’t be out of everything! We are out of screws so we can’t build dollhouses for girls and Nerf guns for boys. Santa is going to be sad.”
Just then Santa walked in. “Where are my toys, the sack has nothing in it? Where are they?”
“We ran out of everything, we are sorry Santa,” said the head elf.
“We can’t go around the world with no toys tomorrow. What will we do?”
“I have an idea,” said Steven the elf in training.
“What is it?”
“My idea is to go to the stores and buy what we need while we are in a disguise.”
“That won’t work,” said his sister.
“Actually it will if we get the right disguise,” said Santa. “Lets go.” So they went and got dressed up and went to the stores and no one knew who they were. They went back to the North Pole and made the toys. Christmas was saved all because of Steven the elf in training.

Just wonderful, Rachelle!
* And ‘Floating Lemons’ brought back a memory of a beloved Belgian Malinois who loved lemons and swimming, and whose greatest joy was playing Fetch with lemons in a swimming pool. I’ll be seeing him soon; it’s been far too long.

Way to go, Lauren and yay for Steven, the elf-in-training! (I hear he and Rudolf are up for employee-of-the-year at the North Pole. I’m rooting for Steven!)
May everyone’s Christmas be full of Christ’s love, joy, and laughter!

Well done! (both Lauren and Steven). Great talent in training, with credit to the trainer who was wise enough to share it with all of us.
* Christmas blessings to you all.

Nice Job, Lauren! This was so fun to read. My boys tell stories, too. But they usually have an evil mother in them who makes her poor sons go to bed at unreasonable times, brush their teeth, and prevents them from playing first person shooters in video games that Kindergartners at their school are allowed to play. She always laughs in an evil way and is much hated by all … I wonder where they get their inspiration???

Delightful! She’s got the makings…

So fun — and a reminder to celebrate those initial sparks of storytelling that started all the way back when we were kiddos!
Now, to go check out Floating Lemons.

Lauren, great job! I love how you used an elf in training to save the day. So, I’m wondering what Steven and all the others disguised themselves as to sneak in unnoticed. Makes me want a sequel.
I’m going to be looking out for any fellow shoppers with unusually pointed ears, or round bellies that shake when they laugh!
Thank you for the gift of a story Lauren! Merry Christmas my dear to you and Steven and your family, including your mom who did not help. Rachelle, betting you’re inspired yourself.
Sorry, I’m late to the blog, I was up until almost 3 am last night Mali g goodies and then deliver most today. I almost forgot to check the blog. I’m glad I did!

Okay Lauren, the cat is out of the bag. That typo, ” Mali g goodies ” is supposed to be “making goodies.” Okay, you will get a chuckle out of this. I have a hard time on this little screen and the styling pad on my phone. My first gets have some arthritis, but Lauren, the thing is my right index finger is just off a hair so it points off to the right instead of straight so that and auto text can make for my, ugh, typos. But I keep typing, and sharing. Can you imagine if I was one of those elves helping out and pointed to the store clerk that I needed a cute little baby doll for a little girl, but my finger was off just a bit at the end and I was really ending up pointing to a rocket science kit! What a mish mash of gifts would be in Santa’s bag. So that’s why, when write proposals, and my “real” writing, I use my laptop with an actual keyboard, and do many checks before I send it in. Maybe, while the elves are in the store, they could find me a finger straightener and large pair of glasses.:)
