Wishing I Didn’t Love Krispy Kremes

November 11, 2014 //  by Rachelle Gardner//  136 Comments

Blogger: Rachelle Gardner

Do you enjoy reading memoirs? I’m a huge fan—I enjoy reading stories about people’s lives, books like Wild (Cheryl Strayed), Brain on Fire (Susannah Cahalan), and Carry On Warrior (Glennon Melton). I’m fascinated by the diversity and uniqueness of each person’s journey, and I know I’m not alone since memoirs are so popular. Most of the Books & Such agents read and represent their fair share of memoirs.

We also enjoy learning about YOU, our blog readers. So I was thinking, what better way to get to know you than through your memoirs! Six Word Memoirs, that is.

I’ve already done mine—the title of this post. And another one below in the Tweetables. Are you game?

Krispy Kreme Put your Six Word Memoir in the comments.

Be creative, be yourself. Tell us about yourself, your life, your day, or your moment. But keep it to six words.

Have fun!

Tweetables:

Share your Six Word Memoir on the Books & Such blog. (Click to Tweet.)

Dreams alone won’t go very far; perfect practice will make you a star.

NFL legendary coach disagreed with the old “Practice makes perfect” adage, maintaining that It takes “perfect” practice to make perfect. What was his definition of perfect practice? Takes three steps: First, find out what you need to practice. Second, find out how to do it perfectly. And finally, practice it that way.

Whether sports or writing, we need to discover what keeps our wordsmith efforts imperfect. Is it description, dialogue, character development, etc. ad nauseam? Whatever it is, we need honest critique and guidance–a mentor to shepherd us to perfection. Sorry to be long winded, but WTH?
